Ingredients

  • 4 oz. tequila or your preferred spirit
  • 2 oz. blood orange juice
  • 1.5 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 hibiscus tea bag or 0.5 oz. dried hibiscus flowers
  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken into pieces
  • 2 oz. sugar
  • 5 oz. water
  • Ice
  • Blood orange and lemon slices for an eerie garnish
  • Black sugar rim for added spookiness Optional

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves, creating a simple syrup. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  • Steep the hibiscus tea bag or dried hibiscus flowers in 5 oz. of hot water for about 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag or strain out the flowers and let the hibiscus infusion cool.
  • For a ghoulish touch, rim the edges of your cocktail glasses with black sugar. Wet the rim with a slice of lemon or blood orange, then dip it into the black sugar.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, blood orange juice, lemon juice, hibiscus infusion, and cinnamon stick pieces.
  • Add the cooled simple syrup to the shaker and fill it with ice. Shake vigorously to chill and blend the ingredients.
  • Strain the cocktail into your prepared glasses, filled with ice.
  • Garnish your Halloween Hibiscus Blood Moon Cocktails with slices of blood orange and lemon, and add a cinnamon stick to each glass for that eerie atmosphere.
